Felicity Rafferty was a Principal Solicitor at Badgery & Rafferty for many years but now provides consultancy services in the areas of Employment & Workplace Relations law including Discrimination. She also engages in Commercial Litigation on behalf of clients. A principal of Badgery & Rafferty since 2010, Felicity prides herself on her loyal client base, combining a knowledgeable approach with a friendly understanding of her client’s specific needs, and adopts a problem-solving approach to dispute resolution.

Felicity has been engaged with Employment and Workplace law throughout her career. She has extensive experience across all industrial relations sectors through her work in the federal public sector, in trade unions, and in private law firms. She offers expertise across all areas of employment and industrial relations law, delivering efficient workplace strategies and representation in employment disputes.

In employment and workplace law, she can assist with:

  • Drafting and advising on employment contracts, terms, and conditions;
  • Providing representation for cases of unfair and unlawful dismissal;
  • Assisting clients involved in disciplinary investigations;
  • Actively engaging in the resolution of workplace disputes;

Human Rights and Discrimination Law

Felicity is committed to achieving equity and inclusiveness in the workplace and has a long-standing special interest in discrimination against women in the workplace.  Through her membership of the ACT Women’s Consultative Council, Felicity was involved in the introduction and implementation of the Discrimination Act 1991 (ACT). She has acted for and advised numerous clients experiencing discrimination in their employment and has provided representation in mediations, Tribunal, and Court proceedings with the objective of receiving a beneficial outcome for her clients.

Felicity brings extensive experience to all areas of her legal practice and is dedicated to seeking favourable outcomes for clients which take account of their particular needs. She presents expertise in mediation, conciliation, and arbitration services across a wide range of industries, involving both private and public sector employers and individuals. She has appeared in State, Territory and Federal Courts and Tribunals, but sees court proceedings as a last resort. Her emphasis is on problem-solving with the aim of achieving the best outcome for her clients in the most cost-effective way possible.
